The Location The Giardino Segreto is located in a friendly hamlet. To the north: the exciting, drammatic Passo San Boldo, the gateway to the Dolomites and their all year round attractions; to the west: the Prosecco wine hills and their many excellent wine growers; and to the east: easy access to the A 27 Venice-Belluno motorway making it a really special and central place to stay at any time of the year. Just to name a few near by attractions: picture-postcard Belluno; beautiful early C16 arcaded Feltre; Vittorio Veneto its C15 palazzi and arcaded streets, seeped in history and still so tourist - free that Franco Zeffirelli filmed his 'Romeo and Juliet' there. A secret garden in a secret part of Italy Angelo, Janine and their young daughter, Maddy, have lovingly and charmingly converted the old farmhouse, infusing their own personalities into the accommodation and enjoying the results of their labour, since they made the main house their own home until May 2006 when they moved to another house nearby. Although no longer living in the main house, Janine is always available nearby to welcome you, to advise you on the local attractions, to give sound advice on practicalities, to tempt you with her culinary expertise and generally to make your stay feel as though you' re living amongst the local Italians and not joining other tourists. The House Il Giardino Segreto is an original centuries old farmhouse with a small secluded garden set in a rural mountain village.The house is made up of three adjacent parts: cantina, main house and la casa vecchia all with own entrance, living room and bathroom. Summary Children: are welcome, toys, cots, high chair provided. Pets: by arrangement. Smoking: is allowed outside in the garden only. Parking: cars can be left easily and safely, a few metres away in the village square. Heating: central heating and wood burning stove/open fire. Heating is metered and charged at cost when self-catering.Logs can be bought directly from us. Assistance: the owners live nearby and are on call to help at any time. No TV but there are lots of books, magazines and board games. Organic bread, fruit spreads, biscuits and cakes can be ordered from us. Tovena the village, has a little shop for the basics such as bread, milk, tea, coffee etc.Bigger shops and supermarkets at 5km. Good daily markets nearby.There’s a friendly family-run osteria near the house for a nice glass of wine and a snack or midday meal. Many excellent eateries within a 5km radius.
